Sense and Sensibility
I saw this on my friends blog and thought I would give it a try. So, what do you think? Did I answer the questions accuretly? Do you see me as an Elinor Dashwood?

Flash cards
How do you teach someone to read? This is when I wish I had been an elementary education major instead of math. I would have gone crazy in college, but maybe I would have learned how to teach kindergarten. We're going to try the flash cards and sheer repitition method. Man I wish I could remember how I was taught.

Popcorn and Hot chocolate
When I was growing up, one of our families traditions was to have popcorn and soda on Sunday night after we got home from evening church. I tried to keep it up with my own family, but for some reason, just didn't keep up with it. It seems that Dan has taken it upon himself to make the popcorn himself. This is a nice development from my view of things. We haven't added soda to the mix yet. I try not to buy that kind stuff, besides, N. doesn't like carbonated beverages, but hot chocolate works just as well, especially on a cold winter evening.

Will it ever end?
I woke up at 2:30 last night with my right eye feeling a little weepy. I don't know why I woke up, but I knew immediately. I woke Dan up with "Honey, I have pink eye again" So I'm still the only one in the family that has only gotten it in one eye. I just got it in the same eye twice. Almost exactly a week apart. I'm getting a little tired of living in a paranoid state and washing everything I can think may have touched my eyes.

A new week
Another Monday is here. I must say that I am much happier about this Monday than most. For the first time in what feels like weeks, Dan got up and went to work healthy. The boys are still in bed sleeping, catching up on much needed sleep and hopefully this will be a strong week. A week without sickness.
I've been impatient to get on with the new year. I can't believe that January is almost over already.
I'm not really one to make resolutions. I'm one who believe that if you want to make changes, do it now. You don't need a new year for that. It just so happens that I'm ready for some changes and it is also the start to a new year.
I would really like to become a little more organized. I know that this is going to be an on-going struggle, since I am not naturally an organized person, but I don't like living in chaos either.
We're currently in the process of re-organizing the boys room and getting all of their toys out of the living room. By out of the living room, I mean, no longer stored there. I am a realist and know that there will always be some toy in the living room. But now, I can tell them to take them to their room to put them away.
This contributes to my desire to have a downstairs where everything has a place. There are too many things lying around because I just don't know where to put them. I need to find them a place or get rid of them. My house is not big enough to keep things just for the luxury of keeping them.
Finally, I need to start exercising again. I hesitate to put this out there, but hopefully by doing this it will help me keep at it. Now all I have to do is get my but out of bed every morning and do it. I'm a person of routine and habbit, so the biggest challange for me with change is simply establishing a new habbit. I know it needs to be done, the hard part is not doing it just once or twice but to continue doing it week after week after week.
We'll see. Every week, every month, every year, I get a little bit better at being a home-maker, wife, and mother. Maybe by the time N. is eighteen I'll have it figured out.

Pink Eye
There seems to be a mini epidemic going around in my extended family. Over Christmas, while my brother and sister-in-law from Indiana were here, my niece came down with pink eye. We did our best in the situation, telling the boys no hugs and washing hands and trying not to touch eyes. Two days later N. came down with it and we thought, "oh well, not surprising". We called the doctor and got drops for him. He had a bad case. His eyes were almost completely red and oh so gunky. We spent a week washing P.J.s every morning. Changing pillow cases, trying to keep his brother from getting it. It almost worked. Just as N. was starting to get better I noticed A.'s eyes were a little pink and starting to produce the tell-tale "gunk". We started drops right away which seemed to help, since his case wasn't as bad and appeared to get better rather quickly. The same day A. came down with it, my brother stopped by to see if we were still using our drops since he to had contracted pink eye. I later found out that my brother and sister-in-law from Indiana also had it. To top it off my brother was down in Florida taking a masters class with his big puffy red eyes.
So, we stopped the drops a week ago with the boys and thought we were in the clear.
This past Saturday afternoon, after spending the day in the attic, Dan said, "I think I may have pink eye, but I might just have something in it from the attic." No such luck.
It was pink eye, and he has it bad. Yesterday morning his eyes were almost completely swollen shot. He could hardly open them for me to get the drops in.
I'm feeling a little bit of inevitability that I will get it, but I'm still holding out hope, washing my hands like crazy and refusing to touch my eyes unless I have just scrubbed my hands clean.
Wouldn't you like to come visit our house?

January Madness
So the new year is here. Hip Hip Hooray!
The madness of January has started. I just took down our Christmas tree yesterday and am trying to get things back into some semblence of order. Part of the problem is that the boys have pink eye. N. got it last week from his cousin who was visiting, and A. woke up with it this morning. Bummer. I thought he wasn't going to get it.
On top of all that it's time to wrap everything from 2007 up. Last night I had a budget committee meeting for our church and I am also trying to put together the financial report and a proposed budget for 2008 for our church's missions committee. For some reason people like to stick me with the number issues. I know I majored in Math in College, but that doesn't make me an accountant.
It's ok. I'm not complaining. I'm just feeling a little brain dead and stressed from looking at the computer screen and crunching numbers and spreadsheets all day. I know for some people they do that everyday at their job, but for this "stay-at-home" mom, it's a little out of the ordinary.
Boy do I love being a "stay-at-home" mom.

Not how, I know You can do it. Not who, I know You went through it. Not where, you're preparing a place for me. Not why, all my sin is the reason. Not what, Your return into season, but how long, how long will it be?
O momentary grace of mortal men, Which we more hunt for than the grace of God. --- Shakespeare, Richard III
